The Aurora Hash House Harriers is a drinking club with a running problem. We are based in Fairbanks, Alaska. We run, we drink, we have good times.We hash all over the Fairbanks area to include Moose Creek, Salcha, Fox, Chena Hot Springs, Fort Wainwright, Eielson AFB, University of Alaska-Fairbanks, Two Rivers, Chatinika , Ester and the Skinny Dick's area . Our pack averages 10-20 and our excellent trails last 1-4 hours.
Hashing is a mixture of athleticism and sociability, debauchery and hard work; a refreshing break from the nine-to-five routine. Hashing is an exhilarating fun combination of running, cross country, jogging, walking, snow shoeing, skiing, orienteering, and partying. Bands of Harriers and Harriettes chase hares on 1 - 6 mile trails through the city or country side or a combination of both. There is an abundance of beauty, mosquitos, moose, bears, water crossings, hills, marsh, birds, sun and cold all in search of good times, camaraderie, and possibly exercise.
We offer a mix of trails designed for runners, joggers, and walkers. Trail typically begins in the early afternoon and is never cancelled for inclement weather, even in the dead of winter. Most trails are laid by live hares. The cost of each trail is $5, but free for anyone hashing with us for the first time. THIS IS PRIMARILY an ADULT HASH. Trails are adult oriented, but kid friendly trails can be accommodated upon PRIOR approval.
Since we make an effort to enable groups of mixed abilities to run together by following a trail set by one hasher (hare) with the intent of false trails so that front runners (hounds) gets lost and give the rest of the running pack time to catch up. When the real trail is found, ON – ON is called, so the stragglers know which way to go.
The Aurora Hash House Harriers meet at least monthly but often more for frequently for a trail and/or drinking practice. For a trail runners follow a trail of flour or chalk somewhere in the area in search of beer, songs, generally poor behavior and beer.
If you are interested in meeting new people, seeing parts of Fairbanks you have never seen before, and getting some exercise, just join us with your pair of running shoes and your sense of humor. WHAT: 2021 Red Dress R*n. (A to B ) Where: UAF SRC lot (usual starting place for Midnight Sun Run) WHEN: 10:30pm start. If this Facebook event fu*ks up the time zone, use your best judgement by reading that it says 10:30pm right here. WHO: SUE hares. Degenerates, sinners, masturbaters, heathens, pickpockets, and afternoon farmers welcome. Also, virgins. Always virgins. WHY: Damned if we do, damned if we don't. HOW: Pay $15. Put on red dress. Get your sore, bruised ass to the university. The Midnight Sun R*n is being "virtualized" this year, so who knows who we'll see out there. As much as we enjoy a fine drink, the cops at the university are cunts (to say the least) so please be prepared to stand on your own at the start. I'll also have my vehicle at the end to take anyone back to the start as soon as we finish to grab their vehicles and stuff. Speaking of stuff, you're going to want to bring your IDs and some cash or debit card. That's about all of it. Please be prepared to arrange your own accommodations. If anyone has any charities to be the recipient of this year's event, shoot it. Everything is always subject to change because I'm neurotic and paranoid. |

Especially if you work with folks that will be alone in the dorms/barracks for the holidays (who might not want to feel obligated to go hang out with their Commander or whatnot). RSVP!!
